Can anyone give me some ideas for a craft or hobby
l am tired of sitting at home doing pretty much nothing but playing on the
computer. It is starting to get old. l like to paint and make unique
things, but I am having a hard time finding something to get into. Any
suggestions would be great! (BTW...we have an old upholstery shop
outside which still has the huge sewing machine(and a small one inside)and
my dad is wood working equipment. I am just afraid of cutting off a finger
with it, lol) I am not saying l wanna get into woodworking, just wanted to throw out that we have the equipment, lol.
Why not try Candle Making? Candle making is not really that
hard, but you do have to be cautious (making candles involves high
temperatures, flammable substances, & potentially harmful chemicals). The
beginner should start with container candles (usually in tins or glass
jars) as this will get you some experience working with waxes, wicks,
dyes, & scents. Note that there are many different types of waxes
(container, pillar, soy, gel) & scents (not all are all safe together). I would recommend that you look at some of the sites I provided links to, take a lesson, or buy an introduction book/video. There is a lot of good & bad information out there, please use caution. http://amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&marketplaceID=ATVPDKIKX0DER&me=AZUQLF0FGKJCY&isPopup= (Kits & Videos) http://candlesandsupplies.com (good for kits, supplies, info, videos, etc) http://groups..com/group/candlemakingsurvival/ (great on-line group) http://groups..com/group/candlequestions/ (great on-line group) http://candleandsoap.about.com/ (good instructions) http://candlecauldron.com/ (a very informative site) http://gatehousecandles.com/ (my site) Hope this helps!

Lot of neat craft ideas there!
Knitting, crochet, cross stitch, jewelry making
If you could find old wooden chairs or tables, you could use
your painting skills to paint unique designs on them. I've seen painted
chairs at craft shows and they're really cool. For instance, you could
paint a wooden chair all white, and then hand paint a design on top of
that. If the old furniture or chairs need a little fixing up, the
woodworking tools may come in handy.
begin refinishing old furniture. its really quite fun. just
start looking around at old flea markets, garage sales, etc and see what
interesting pieces you can find that you can give a face lift. you can
even sell them after you finish.
Cross stitch and Embroidery - you can do freestyle embroidery
on anything. I use artist canvas painted and then use different stitches
to make a 'picture'. Its all freestyle so they all come out different!
What about cross-stitching, either painted or counted?

My hobbies include reading; writing; sewing; listening to
music; learning useless trivia; fishing; hiking; biking; volunteering; &
answering questions here.
My suggestion, for what it is worth? Don't be afraid to try out the little
sewing machine in ur old upholstery shop. If it doesn't work -- or is just
not user-friendly -- consider getting a machine that does work & is user-friendly, like a Brother. I love my new Brother sewing machine, & I have yet to lose a finger with it! LOL!
Quilting, scrapbooking, painting, woodworking, gardening,
jewlery-making. Those are just to name a few. You could also try to
learn/create new dishes. If you are still bored, volunteer somewhere!
Do you like learning new, literary, bombastic, very formal and
old-fashioned words?

archery is so cool, it is so much fun and is a great hobby.
